  • Understanding the roles of mixing and mastering in music production.
  • The difference between creative mixing and technical mastering.
  • Setting up a reference listening environment: Monitoring, acoustic treatment, and gain staging.
2. Mixing Essentials
  • Balancing Levels: Setting initial levels for clarity and cohesion.
  • EQ Techniques: Cleaning up frequency conflicts and enhancing tonal balance.
  • Compression Basics: Controlling dynamics and adding punch to individual tracks.
  • Panning and Stereo Imaging: Creating width and separation in the mix.
3. Creative Mixing Techniques
  • Adding depth with reverb and delay.
  • Parallel processing: Compression and saturation for richness.
  • Automation for dynamic mixes: Volume, panning, and FX transitions.
  • Sidechaining: Kick-bass relationships and creative pumping effects.
4. Mix Buss Processing
  • Applying subtle EQ and compression to the master buss.
  • Saturation and glue for a cohesive sound.
  • Preparing your mix for mastering: Exporting with headroom.
5. Mastering Foundations
  • Critical Listening: Understanding tonal balance and dynamics in mastered tracks.
